Credentials & Accreditations The Caring Clinics Baltimore

When you choose a clinic for opioid use disorder treatment, credentials matter.

The Caring Clinics operates SAMHSA certified opioid treatment programs at six locations across Baltimore, supported by federal certification, state oversight, and independent evaluation; a high standard that has earned our patients’ trust for the past 20 years.

Federal and State Certifications

Three government bodies confirm that our opioid treatment programs are safe, legal, and held to the highest standards:

SAMHSA Certification

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) certifies opioid treatment programs under federal law. To qualify, clinics must meet rigorous requirements for patient care, medication safety, and counseling. Any clinic that legally dispenses methadone for opioid use disorder must hold this designation.

DEA Registration

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registers clinics authorized to dispense controlled substances, including methadone. Our DEA registration confirms that medication practices are continuously monitored and compliant with controlled substance law. Every dose is tracked, dispensed, and documented under government oversight.

Maryland State Licensure

Maryland’s Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) and State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA) oversee all opioid treatment programs in the state. Their ongoing review adds a third layer of accountability, ensuring our clinics consistently meet Maryland’s standards for safety and quality. Your care is held to both state and federal scrutiny.

CARF Accreditation & Recognition

The Caring Clinics is proud to be accredited by CARF

CARF (the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), one of a small number of bodies approved by SAMHSA to independently evaluate opioid treatment programs. CARF reviews each clinic on how well it serves patients, how safely it operates, and how consistently it improves. An outside review of this kind sets a higher bar. Their accreditation confirms that our approach to care meets an internationally recognized standard.
Our Hampden location received the Patty Brown Innovation Award in 2026, an accolade given to Maryland organizations advancing healthcare through innovative collaboration and practical IT solutions.
We were also recognized in 2020 by Expertise.com as one of the Best Drug Rehab & Alcohol Rehab Centers in Baltimore, based on our availability, qualifications, reputation, experience, and overall professionalism.

Recognized by

Major Insurance Providers

Being accepted by major insurance providers is itself a mark of recognition. Medicare, Medicaid, and leading private insurers have each evaluated our work and chosen to cover treatment at The Caring Clinics. Their approval reflects the standing and legitimacy of the care we provide:
We also offer self-pay options if you don’t have insurance, or prefer to pay out-of-pocket. Our admissions team will verify your insurance coverage during your initial contact. We handle the paperwork so you can focus on what matters: your recovery.

“Take the first step toward verified, trusted care.”

Our

Clinical Team

Behind these credentials is a team of people who chose this work because they care. Every counselor at The Caring Clinics holds Maryland state credentials in addiction counseling, including CAC-AD and CSC-AD designations. Our team also includes Licensed Master Social Workers trained in evidence-based care for opioid use disorder.
We are proud to include peer recovery specialists as part of our care team. These are people who have lived through addiction themselves and now walk alongside patients through every step of recovery. Their firsthand understanding shapes the way we listen, guide, and support each person we serve.
“The credentials we hold reflect a single commitment: dignified, person-centered care for everyone we serve.”
